The weekly Premier League review: Matchday 19

Boxing Day fixtures are always exciting with many matches from the Premier League coming our way. It’s always been a scare for the bigger clubs on the Boxing Day to lose against smaller oppositions and we’ll get to see that in the coming week if this happens or not. We currently have Arsenal leading the Premier League points table for the second year in a row with them hoping to not give away their lead on top just like last year when they bottled it up to lose the title to Manchester City.

Tuesday

Newcastle United vs Nottingham Forest  

Time: 6:00 pm

Match facts: Newcastle were left furious as they suffered a shocking defeat to relegation battlers Luton Town in the Premier League match day 18 with another relegation battler coming up to visit them at St. James Park in the form of Nottingham Forest. The latter were good during their 3-2 loss against Bournemouth last time out with 10 men playing most of the game but a hat trick by Dominik Solanke rounded things off for the Cherries.

Bournemouth vs Fulham  

Time: 8:30 pm

Match facts: Bournemouth did one of the smartest businesses before entering the Premier League season 2023-2024 but had failed to manage a good synergy among the players in the initial phases. It’s since then they have started to perform and the star player for them has been Dominik Solanke who has been phenomenal for the Cherries, even scoring a hat trick in their last match. Fulham must be aware of the threat they may pose by trying to recover the same form they showed during the start of the season.  

Sheffield United vs Luton Town  

Time: 8:30 pm

Match facts: It’d be a competitive match between the sides who are ranked 20th and 18th respectively in the Premier League table. While Luton has shown they can be great against larger opposition while winning the match also against Newcastle

Last time out, Sheffield had a draw against Aston Villa who themselves are 3rd on the Premier League standings. Sheffield will be hoping to win the contest to boost their survival hopes while Luton will be hoping to win to get a chance to move above the drop zone to stay clear from relegation.  

Burnley vs Liverpool

Time: 11:00 pm  

Match facts: Burnley finally registered a win with Vincent Kompany’s not at all short for words of praise for his side in their win against Fulham last time out. Liverpool on the other hand were against table toppers Arsenal at home against whom it was an end-to-end contest with them drawing a match where they had enough chances to round the game off. They’d be hoping to come to winning ways against a Burnley side who are certainly a not much tough side to beat.

Wednesday  

Manchester United vs Aston Villa  

Time: 1:30 pm  

Match facts: Manchester United now finally has given 25 percent of their shares to Sir Jim Ratcliff who will be involved in the sporting decisions from now on. This light result in a change of management too if the Red Devils do not start to perform under manager Erik Ten Hag. Aston Villa had the chance last time out against a smaller Sheffield United side to go on top of the table but they were able to manage a draw only with them now visiting the Old Trafford to make sure they haunt the Manchester Red squad even more than ever.
