The English Premier League round-up Matchday 13

Manchester City vs Liverpool

Match Facts: A scintillating encounter at the start of Premier League Matchday 13 and what an end-to-end encounter it was. The premier league top two, or force rivals, or managerial rivals whatever you name the derby was exactly what everyone expected it to be. Erling Haaland became the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals as he opened the scoring. The match went late and Liverpool used all their 5 substitutes compared to none from the defending champions. Trent Alexander Arnold scored the equalizer off a pass from Mohammed Salah to round of the match.

Burnley vs West Ham  

Final score line: 1-2

               Thomas Soucek (90+1’) assisted by Mohammed Kudus  

Match Facts: Burnley looked optimistic to win the game as they were on a lead till the 85th minute due to a penalty scored by forward Jay Rodriguez. As it went late Mohammed Kudus energized the right wing as he was the main man behind the first goal with him later on setting up Thomas Soucek to win the game with a sublime cross that the Czech International slotted home pretty comfortably.

Luton Town vs Crystal Palace

Final score line: 2-1

Match Facts: Luton was the only team from the relegation battlers in this season’s Premier League who won the game as Crystal Palace came on to level but couldn’t win the game. The match went into the latter half as on-loan Defender from Manchester United T. Mengi opened the scoring as the Eagles came back with Michael Olise scoring a worldie to equalise. Jacob Brown finally won the game for Luton Town as they kept their bid alive to stay in the league.

Newcastle vs Chelsea  

Final score line: 4-1

Match Facts: Chelsea is not showing any signs of improvement as whenever they start performing, they again slip whenever the fans hope it’s time for them to come back. Four goals and a horrifying performance from the defence line as Reece James was shown a second yellow with experienced defender Thiago Silva gifting away a goal to fellow Brazilian Joelington for the third. A Newcastle side hampered by injuries was not the favourites to win the game but it went into their court as they thumped Chelsea for four to one.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton

Final score line: 2-3

Match Facts:  Finally a win for Brighton who’d look to continue a better run of form from now. It was pretty much disastrous to see a shift in their form considering the way they started their season. Youngsters Joao Pedro and Evan Ferguson proved to be the difference as they guided their team to a desperately needed win as Nottingham Forest struggled to build up a winning streak.

Sheffield United vs Bournemouth  

Final score line: 1-3

Match Facts: Bournemouth have started to show resilience as they have started their winning run. After a win over Newcastle, the Cherries are confident of giving any team good competition and with relegation battlers Sheffield United hosted them, a match where the home side would have thought to take away the Premier League Matchday 13 in their favour, but they lost 3-1 in a game where luck was much partial towards the Cherries.

Brentford vs Arsenal  

Final score line: 0-1

Scorers: Kai Havertz (89’) assisted by Bukayo Saka  

Match Facts: It’s for the first time now that Arsenal have sealed the top spot this season. Last year they remained on top for more than 8 months but eventually lost to Manchester City in the title race. Brentford fought hard to maintain their good form at home but Arsenal dug deep and it was the substitute Kai Havertz who scored later to win the match. High hopes were kept from Aaron Ramsdale on his return but with an unlikely clean sheet with so many moments of faulty mistakes, it’s highly doubtful he will take the nod in the playing 11 again.
