The best moments of cricket in 2022

2022 was a great year for cricket as there was action-packed cricket from January to December. Their were Bi-lateral series, ICC events, entertaining T20 leagues and much more. With that being said, here are the best moments of cricket in the year 2022.

Jason Holder takes 4 in 4 as West Indies beat England by 3-2 

The series was leveled at 2-2. England faced West Indies at the final match of the series. West Indies chose to bat first and set a total of 179 for England to chase. With Sam Billings batting on 41*Jason Holder was given the task of defending 20 runs off the final over.

What followed was a breathtaking performance as Jason Holder took the wickets of Sam Billings, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid and Saqib Mahmood. The all-rounder from Barbados became the second bowler to take 4 wickets in 4 consecutive deliveries and etched his name in the record books as the bowler to take the most wickets in a bi-lateral T20I series (15 wickets).

Virat Kohli's 100th Test match

It was a historic milestone for Virat Kohli as he was set to play his 100th Test match at Mohali. The former Indian captain could not have asked for a better team performance from his team mates as India dominated Sri Lanka, winning the test match by an innings and 222 runs. Virat Kohli was looking to score big, but unfortunately he got bowled by Lasith Ebuldeniya.

The highlights of this match was Ravindra Jadeja's performance, scoring an unbeaten 175* in the first innings and taking 9 wickets in the second and third innings, sealing the match for India.

2022 IPL

With the inclusion of 2 new teams, the 2022 IPL was a spectacle that entertained fans all around the world. Jos Buttler's 800 + run season, the resurgence of Yuzvendra Chahal, the inspirational comeback of Hardik Pandya, and David Miller turning back the clock made the 15th edition of the IPL a memorable one.

Introduction to Bazball

On 10th June 2022, Bazball was introduced to the world. England were moved on from their disappointing performance in Test match cricket in 2021 and looked to play a new brand of Test cricket.

The world witnessed Johnny Bairstow and Ben Stokes completely run through New Zealand's bowling attack as they chased a target of 300 in just 50 overs. England went on to play this aggressive brand of cricket and dominated test cricket in 2022, beating New Zealand 3-0, South Africa 2-1, drawing the remaining test match against India leveling the serie 2-2 and beating Pakistan in home 3-0.

Under Brendon McCullum, England are looking a completely different test side and will look to rise up the ranks in Test cricket.

2022 T20 World Cup: A World Cup of upsets. 

The 2022 T20 World Cup might have been the best T20 World cups till date. The talking point of this T20 World Cup was the performance of the minnow teams. These teams beat the top nations, making the World and points table more interesting. Zimbabwe beating Pakistan, Netherlands beating South Africa and West Indies losing to Scotland and Ireland are some of the upsets that set the cricket community in shock. The other memorable moments of this World Cup were Virat Kohli's breathtaking 82* against Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav's smashing Zimbabwe all around the park ,Ben Stokes clutch performance at the final and Glen Phillips brilliant catch at the boundary.
