Springfield Lasers vs Orlando Storm: WorldTeamTennis Preview and Prediction
It is a clash between two teams who have had contrasting fortunes this season. Springfield Lasers are out of contention for the knock-outs having won just three matches out of 10 so far. On the other hand, Orlando Storm is still in the race to play the semifinals.
Lasers are coming to this match with a defeat against the Orange County Breakers yesterday.
Their women's doubles combination of Catherine McNally and Hayley Carter has not performed up to expectations. Having lost two of their last three encounters so far, they need to pull up their socks.
Orlando would have no worries as their doubles pair, Darija Jurak and Jessica Pegula are in fantastic form courtesy a three-match winning streak.
The men's doubles match would be a cracker of a contest as grand slam champions, Jean Julien Rojer and Robert Lindstedt take on the in-form pair, Tennys Sandgren and Ken Skupski.
With McNally having lost her previous singles match, Lasers should field Olga Govorstova instead. Despite their star player, Danielle Collins dismissed from the competition due to violation of COVID-19 protocols, Storm would have an edge as Pegula has won her last two singles matches.
Lasers would depend heavily on homeboy, Mitchell Krueger to bring his A-game who is coming off a win against Steve Johnson yesterday. He will have his task cut out against his compatriot, Tennys Sandgren who has clinched his previous two matches.
The outcome of the mixed doubles match could very well decide the winner. Lasers would be pumped up as McNally and Lindstedt are in great touch. Storm would have to sort out the poor form of Pegula and Skupski. They would be tempted to try out James Ward instead.
Lasers would look to play spoilsports to Orlando's efforts of making the final four.
Orlando had the bragging rights when the two teams faced off two weeks back, they will look to keep their hopes for the title alive.
Prediction - Orlando Storm to win
