Real Madrid preparing a mega-raid on Manchester City
Spanish giants Real Madrid are all set to take advantage of Manchester City’s two-year Euro ban from the Champions League. Los Blancos look to launch an all-out assault for star Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling.
Following their ban from the Champions League, Manchester City could lose a handful of their star players including their manager Pep Guardiola who is a target of Serie A giants Juventus.
And, a host of Manchester City megastars could also quit the Etihad Stadium as they are set to miss Champions League football for two seasons.
Sterling has been a long-term target of Real Madrid. Now they are believed to be keen on taking advantage of Manchester City's ban from the elite cup competition of Europe.
Sterling could cost around £180 million. However, it is stated that Real Madrid would be happy to pay that for the services of the 25-year-old.
The former Liverpool star winger has a contract at Etihad for another three years. The Englishman has been in talks with the reigning champions of England over a new deal for quite some time.
But, contract talks might cease to take place now that the Citizens cannot offer their star forward Champions League football for two years.
Manchester City also City face missing out on a £170m Champions League jackpot if their appeal fails. And without that income, they might not be able to boost his wages.
He earns around £300,000 a week and wants his salary to be upped to £450,000 a week.
The English international has made no secret of the fact he would love to play abroad at some stage.
And, Real Madrid have been interested in the forward for quite some time now. The La Liga giants are one of the first choices for a player when they want a step up in career.
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the round of 16 in the Champions League and Zidane will get to have a closer look on his target.
Meanwhile, in another bad news for the Citizens, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli is desperate to make Guardiola their next manager.
The Old Lady could make a move this summer depending upon how much Maurizio Sarri manages to deliver at the end of the season.
They have received a major boost in their pursuit of the Spanish manager with the Citizens being imposed a two-year ban by the UEFA from the Champions League.
The Spaniard’s Etihad deal runs out in 2021 and despite saying he is ready to extend it, nothing has been signed as of yet.
