A heated-up hard-court encounter is all set to take place as World number 1, Novak Djokovic takes on number 27, Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals of the Paris Masters today.

The 16-time grand slam champion struggled a lot in his close win over Frenchman, Corentin Moutet in the round of 32. 

He got his groove back in the pre-quarterfinals against number 75, Kyle Edmund winning 7-6 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals. The Serbian blew away the challenge of the new star, Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in the quarterfinals.

Zero double faults, a high first-serve winning percentage of 79% and precision-like returns as a rock-solid Novak did not give any leeway for the Greek.

The Bulgarian has been in sensational form in this tournament. He kick-started his campaign with a tough win against number 56, Ugo Humbert in three sets in the round of 64.

He was unstoppable in the next two matches, trouncing 12th seed, David Goffin and fifth seed, Dominic Thiem in straight sets in the round of 32 and 16 respectively.

Another easy win followed as Dimitrov ousted number 42, Cristian Garin winning 6-2 7-5 in the quarters.

“Everything has been fantastic so far, everybody has been great, my family is here, the team is around, so it gives you a certain amount of comfort to perform. I feel very well surrounded and hopefully, there are two more matches to play,” said Dimitrov reflecting his stellar run in Paris.

“Since the US Open, he’s playing at a different level, a high level. he always had the game, it's just sometimes a matter of things coming together really mentally and at the right time.

Whatever be the outcome, the clash between a legend who wants to create history and a talented player who wants to get back lost glory will fascinate the fans.
