Cristiano Ronaldo comes to the rescue of Portugal, yet again!!
Cristiano Ronaldo set another international record as the Portuguese talisman became the all-time leading scorer (111 goals) in men's international football by smashing a brace against the Republic of Ireland.
Ronaldo scored a last-minute winner in the dying minutes of the game against Ireland after scoring the equalizer as well in a World Cup qualifier to gift Portugal the victory.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now set an International record being the highest ever goal-scorer in men’s international football.
Ronaldo has now scored 111 goals for Portugal, overtaking Iranian footballer, Ali Daei’s record which was 109 goals.
The latest addition to Manchester United’s attacking power scored a header in the 89th minute of the game against the Republic of Ireland to break the record.
It was a cross from the right side of the pitch, played by Goncalo Guedes that Ronaldo took flight for before slotting it home with a header. He then added onto the record and also won the game in the additional minutes, improving the record to 111 goals.
Ronaldo wasn’t shy to address his greatness in the post-match stating,
“It’s another record for the museum.”
We completely concur with what the Portuguese Talisman had to say.
Ronaldo tied the international record against France earlier this year in the Euros where he drew the game 2-2, scoring both penalties.
Ali Daei could not have had a better heir to his throne for being the top scorer in men’s international football.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo is not the absolute top scorer in international football. The International record for being the top scorer in international football has been set by Canada’s Christine Sinclair.
