Chelsea looking to buy back former youth team winger

Premier League giants Chelsea are planning a sensational move to buy back their former youth team player Jeremie Boga. 

The Ivory Coast international is now plying his trade for Italian side Sassoulo but it is understood Chelsea have first refusal on bringing him back to England. 

With his exploits in Italy, the 23-year-old has already alerted a host of clubs across Europe and Chelsea have not been an exception. 

And, the Blues have already had a meeting to discuss whether they should exercise the option to buy him back for as little as £15 million. 

The 23-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season at the weekend and is viewed as a long-term replacement for Chelsea veteran Willian. 

Willian's current deal expires in the summer and the Blues are yet to tie him down with a new deal. 

It is claimed that Willian wants a two-year deal and a modest increment on his wages but the Blues are looking to stick to their principle of offering only one-year deals to players beyond the age of 30. 

The manager Frank Lampard has urged the board to make an exception with Willian who is already one of his favourites but Chelsea are yet to listen to that. 

Having failed to make the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge, Ivory Coast international Boga moved to Italy in July 2018 for around £3.5 million. 

He has since bagged ten goals and grabbed five assists in 50 appearances, with nine of those contributions coming this season itself. 

He has also completed the most number of dribbles in Serie A and that is indeed impressive as Serie A boasts some of the most skillful players in the world. 

Sassuolo’s president Giovanni Carnevali recently confirmed the Blues do have a buy-back option on the attacker. 

He said: “Chelsea can redeem Boga in June. We have a great relationship with the club and we already met them before Christmas – also for other business. 

“They can take him back but we can also re-sign him, everything is open.” 

With Boga recently admitted he would jump at the chance to return to Chelsea, telling Foot Mercato: “It is true that [leaving Chelsea] was a shame. 

“Aside from that, I have no regrets. Each thing comes into its own time. It was certainly not the time for me to play for Chelsea. 

“I always keep that in the corner of my head. If I continue to do what I am doing, work hard, maybe I will be back one day."
