Carlo Ancelotti accepts FA charge and escapes touchline ban

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has accepted a charge of misconduct from the FA after his red card following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. The Italian has been fined £8,000 for the incident. 

However, he has been lucky enough not to receive a  touchline ban, meaning that he will be on the touchlines when he visits his former team, Chelsea.

The Everton boss came onto the pitch at the end of the game to confront the referee Chris Kavanagh after seeing his side controversially have a late goal from Dominic Calvert-Lewin ruled out. Gylfi Sigurdsson was adjudged to be offside and affecting the view of David de Gea.

Because of his actions, Ancelotti was then showed a red card by the official and was charged with misconduct by the FA earlier this week. The manager had until 6 pm on Thursday to respond, but the manager responded way earlier. 

The FA statement reads, “Carlo Ancelotti has been fined £8,000 for a breach of FA rule E3 during the Premier League fixture against Manchester United FC on Sunday 1 March 2020.”

The Italian will be lucky to be present on the touchline for Everton’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. The match against United was a very open one with both the teams creating a lot of opportunities but failed to convert. 

Chelsea had a similar game with Bournemouth after managing to get a point after the game, courtesy of Marcos Alonso, who scored both the goals.

Frank Lampard was very upset with the team’s attacking display but a solid FA Cup win against Liverpool has created energy among the Chelsea squad, as they hope to increase the gap to remain a part of the top four. 

Ancelotti will be looking forward to a decent reception from his former club after it was confirmed by the Blues manager too.
